Now the agreement is signed with Golf Cambrils S.L. This means that GolfStar will take over the operation and operatorship of Cambrils Pitch & Putt starting in 2024. The facility currently has a 9-hole Pitch & Putt course, driving range, practice areas and a clubhouse. Hotel Mas Gallau with 40 rooms and its locally well-known restaurant is also directly adjacent.

– This golf facility is the first step in GolfStar’s future growth in the Iberian Peninsula. Now taking over the operation of Cambrils Pitch & Putt is completely in line with our overall vision and this is the first step of our expansion in Spain, says Tony Trigell, CEO of GolfStar’s parent company Caddies Europe AB.

– Right now we are completing the company formation and at the same time establishing our first office which will be located in the new clubhouse in Cambrils. The investment is completely in line with what we previously communicated regarding exporting GolfStar as a golf operator and management company in Spain. Our ambition going forward is to take over the operation of more facilities in several major golf regions on the Iberia peninsula, Tony continues.

– Regarding Cambrils Pitch & Putt, our focus is to build a Golf Academy to make the game of golf more accessible than it currently is to the local population. Here in Spain, golf is generally an expensive sport to practice compared to back home in Sweden. Most often, golf clubs focus on attracting green fee players from other countries rather than developing golfers in the local area. Our ambition here in Cambrils is to do both, says Stefan Brikell, Market Director and incoming CEO of GolfStar in Spain.

– The facility is located approx. one hour’s drive south of Barcelona and is easily accessible from Cambrils, Reus, Salou and Tarragona. Of course, our goal is also to create added value for our members back home in Sweden. To now be able to offer very attractive ”Stay & Play” packages with accommodation at Hotel Mas Gallau, games and training opportunities at Cambrils Pitch & Putt and other golf courses in the vicinity such as Infinitum Golf (formerly Lumine Golf), Gaudí Golf and Costa Daurada Golf Club is fantastic, Stefan continues.

– Furthermore, we will invest in new range mats, balls, ball management systems, lighting and goal areas out on the range. We will also elevate the golf experience on the course and around the clubhouse environment, which will receive a major facelift, both inside and out. We will rebuild the reception, the shop and build a bar and a new terrace. Everything to contribute to the social interaction both before, during and after the game, in the same way as the local padel clubs do here in Spain, concludes Stefan.
